In case you don’t know what Farm and Industry Short Course (FISC) is, it’s basically fast-tracked agriculture courses to get you back on the farm in a timely manner while still teaching you what you need to know about the industry. The University is hoping to have FISC back on campus for the 2021-2022 school year. This year it’s going to be a little bit different.
The school’s offering two core courses during each term. For the Fall term students can sign up for Business Principles of Agricultural Management and Introduction to Soils. For the Spring term they’re offering Agribusiness Feasibility Planning and The Business of Agriculture.
The University says that all courses for this year will fit into a farmer’s schedule. In other words, students will be able to do most of the course work on their own time. The school realizes how busy farmers are and that a set schedule is a difficult thing to come by in agriculture.
If you or someone you know is interested in applying for this school year, applications are due by August 1st. The good news is that there are scholarships available to students that apply.
The Fall term begins in late October.
