VINLAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man with a history of robbery convictions is accused of robbing a Winnebago County Kwik Trip with a handgun.
The incident happened Monday around 12:30 a.m. at the Kwik Trip in the town of Vinland.
Officials say the man showed a handgun and demanded money out of the cash register. The man walked across the street with an undisclosed amount of money and got into his vehicle and drove away.
At the time, police were not able to locate the suspect.
Through a variety of investigative resources, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the suspect vehicle. It was quickly learned that the registered owner associated with the vehicle had a history of robbery convictions.
On Wednesday, investigators found the suspect, 58-year-old Lorenzo Wood Jr. in Oshkosh and took him into custody during a traffic stop.
A search warrant was executed at his home to gather further evidence.
No formal charges have been filed.
This case is currently under review for federal prosecution.
