(WTAQ-WLUK) — Four Northeast Wisconsin companies are among the final eight contestants in this year’s “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin” competition.
Put on by Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, officials say this is a fun way to shine a spotlight on our state’s $73 billion manufacturing industry and its career opportunities.
The contest began last month with 148 nominees, which were whittled down to the top 16 vote earners. From there, the “Manufacturing Madness” portion of the tournament has the products face off in rounds of head-to-head matchups until the victor is determined.
The four products from Northeast Wisconsin that remain in the running for the title of the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin are:
- Carbliss: Zero-carb, no-sugar canned cocktail, produced in Plymouth
- Sargento: Natural American sliced cheese, produced in Plymouth
- Cruisers Yachts: 38 VTR line of powerboats, produced in Oconto
- 1000 Island Airboats: Search and rescue 1000 Island Airboat, produced in Marion
Here are the matchups:
- No. 1 Carbliss vs. No. 5 Permobil
- No. 15 TNT Rescue Systems vs. No. 11 Sargento
- No. 13 Kikkoman Foods Inc. vs. No. 8 Cruisers Yachts
- No. 3 1000 Island Airboats vs. No. 7 The Maple Dude
The second round of bracket voting runs from Thursday-Tuesday, with the final four contestants being announced next Wednesday.
