TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The pavilion and concessions building at Neshotah Beach in Two Rivers will get a facelift, and it will cost you to park in some of the lots on the busiest days next summer.
On Monday, the city council approved a $450,000 budget for renovating the pavilion and concessions building. Plans call for:
- Doubling restroom capacity and adding two Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible unisex restrooms and family changing rooms
- Upgrading the concession area for an improved cooking line and improved concession operations
- New durable finishes, epoxy flooring, upgraded plumbing and electrical systems, and new cabinetry and fixtures
- Potential upgrades to the adjacent picnic shelter, including retractable doors or screens and ceiling-mounted heaters, extending its usability into spring and fall
Construction is expected to begin next year.
Meanwhile, the city council also approved a pilot program that will charge drivers $10 per day to park in two of the beach’s busiest lots on 10 peak days next summer.
Money will go toward beach maintenance and operations, with the goal of shifting some of the funding burden from taxpayers to beach users.
Information from the program will be used to make future beach funding decisions.
Parking in other areas, including along Zlatnik Drive, Pierce Street, will remain free.
