| MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today encouraged Wisconsinites and local businesses affected by severe weather last month to apply for federal disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Federal disaster loans from the SBA will be available for Wisconsinites and businesses impacted by devastating storms that occurred August 9 through August 12 last month, resulting in tens of millions of dollars in damage.
“The disastrous weather events Wisconsinites faced last month displaced kids and families and damaged homes, businesses, community centers, and more,” said Gov. Evers. “Since the storms occurred and we saw the devastating impacts left in their wake, we want to make sure folks know what federal resources, support, and assistance is available to help our communities respond, repair, and rebuild. I’m encouraging Wisconsinites and businesses who are eligible to make sure they apply for federal assistance, including federal disaster loans available through the Small Business Administration.” Please note that the disaster loan offerings through the SBA are complementary to and separate from Individual Assistance programs offered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Gov. Evers last week announced he had secured approval of a federal disaster declaration, unlocking nearly $30 million to help Wisconsin families and businesses rebuild and recover after extreme weather caused tens of millions of dollars in damages. Wisconsinites can learn more about Individual Assistance support through FEMA and how to apply in the governor’s press release announcement last week here. Businesses and residents in Milwaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties may be eligible for physical damage and economic injury assistance through SBA, while businesses in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Jefferson, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, and Walworth counties may be eligible for economic injury assistance. Eligible applicants may apply for the following SBA disaster loans:
Residents and business owners are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to begin the recovery process. |
