EAU CLAIRE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Don Majkowski will apparently pay the fine for a disorderly conduct citation, rather than challenge it in court.
Majkowski was cited after an incident at an Eau Claire bar on Aug. 29.
While a Sept. 30 court date was scheduled for the non-criminal offense, court records updated Thursday say “envelope received with payment.”
The citation is for $213.10, according to court records.
A bartender told officers Majkowski and another man were pushing each other near the bar, according to the records. When an employee tried to separate the men, Majkowski grabbed the employee’s throat, leaving a visible red mark.
Police say Majkowski, 61, was extremely intoxicated and “he was unable to unlock his phone to contact his Uber” so officers drove him to his hotel.
On the way to hotel, Majkowski told officers “he was jumped because boyfriends of the girls at the bar were jealous of him because he was a prior NFL player.”
Majkowski was a 10th-round draft choice of the Packers in 1987. He made the Pro Bowl and was runner-up for NFL MVP in 1989. He played for the Packers until 1992, then finished his career playing two seasons each with the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions.
