TOWN OF RANTOUL (WTAQ-WLUK) — One woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Calumet County Wednesday.
It happened around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of Irish Road and County Highway E in the town of Rantoul.
Authorities say the collision involved an SUV and a sedan. The SUV was stopped at a stop sign, traveling northbound on Irish Road at CTH E, while the sedan was driving westbound on CTH E. Investigation revealed the SUV proceeded into the intersection and into the sedan’s path, ending in a collision.
The sole occupant of the SUV, an 18-year-old Chilton woman, was not injured. The driver of the sedan, an 89-year-old Brillion woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, a failure to yield the right of way appears to be a factor in the crash.
