PULASKI, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Pulaski Community School District is showing off major renovations at Sunnyside Elementary School and Hillcrest Elementary School.
This puts a bow on projects funded by a referendum passed in November 2022, which allowed for new construction that roughly doubled the size of both Hillcrest and Sunnyside and enabled total renovation to existing spaces.
“It’s all come together and it’s amazing to have our families and our kids back in the building and just see the incredible space that they supported through the referendum,” said Sunnyside Elementary School Principal Marc Klawiter. “Every space in this building got touched in some way, which in itself is incredible. You don’t even notice walking from the new construction to the renovated part. It just looks like it’s one piece or one building that was built together.”
Klawiter said it’s been a long time coming, but the end result is more than worth it.
It was amazing, even at our open house, how many of our former students came back with siblings or parents, just to see the building… The kids knew some of them weren’t going to get to see that end product and now they’re getting to see that, which is pretty awesome.
Student-guided tours are provided at the open houses.
The construction of new classrooms and shop space at Pulaski High School was also part of the referendum.
