MARINETTE (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man convicted of making terrorist threats for threatening to enter a county office with an AR-15 was sentenced Tuesday to 13 months in prison.
However, because Bryan Korpal, 40, had 474 days credit for being in custody since the May 9, 2024 incident, the jail sentence amounted to time served.
He was also placed on extended supervision for two years by Judge Peggy Miller.
According to a news release from Marinette County District Attorney DeShea Morrow, Korpal threatened to come to the Human Services building with an AR-15 on May 9, 2024 and “made the sound of racking the slide of a firearm while on the phone with social workers. As a result of Korpal’s statements, the employees located at Marinette County Department of Human Services building were placed on high alert.”
In another case, Korpal was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison and two years of extended supervision after being convicted of child abuse for a 2023 incident. That sentence is consecutive to that for the threats case.
