WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office is welcoming its newest member — except this one has four paws and a wet nose.
K9 Brie, a one-year-old Goldendoodle, will be working with the medical examiner’s office as a therapy dog. She is partnered with Deputy Medical Examiner McKenzie Repinski, but will also respond to calls throughout the Winnebago County community.
Although she’s young, Brie has already completed her fourth good citizen certification through Dawgs at Work in Saukeville, Wisconsin.
Officials say Brie’s job will be to provide comfort to family and friends who are grieving the loss of a loved one, or communities impacted by a traumatic event. She will also offer support to staffers at the medical examiner’s office and to law enforcement officers in the county.
K9 Brie will work full-time at the medical examiner’s office and in the community under the care of Repinski, with whom she will reside.
