APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man was arrested after a handgun was fired during a dispute between two drivers in Appleton over the weekend.
Around 12:45 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue, officers responded to a weapons call.
When police arrived on scene, they secured the area. No injuries were reported and no property damage was found.
Witnesses told officers the incident began as a driving dispute between the drivers of two vehicles in the area. During the incident, one driver displayed a handgun, fired it, and fled the scene.
Through witness interviews, evidence processing, and review of surveillance footage, officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle and driver.
Around 3:50 p.m., officers located the suspect vehicle. A 27-year-old man was taken into custody on recommended charges of a felon in possession of a firearm, recklessly endangering safety and a probation violation.
The firearm was recovered and logged into evidence.
