MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Manitowoc attorney’s license to practice law has been suspended by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
According to court documents, John P. Buran operates his own legal practice in Manitowoc. He received his law license in 1990.
That license has now been revoked for 30 months, effective Thursday, after the court determined Buran “committed professional misconduct” by forging the signature of one of his former law firm employees as a witness on nine wills between 2008 and 2021.
Six of those wills were then filed in Manitowoc County probate proceedings, but Buran did not disclose to the circuit court “that any of those six wills on which he had forged a witness signature might be defective or invalid.”
In addition to his license suspension, Buran must also pay the costs of the court proceeding, which are $9,102.97.
