(WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Oconto Falls is receiving a grant from the Wisconsin DNR to assist with damage caused by the winter storms earlier this year.
The $14,322 grant will fund tree repair, removal or replacement where storms struck parts of the state March 29 through April 1, 2025.
Grants were also given to Antigo and Rhinelander:
- City of Antigo, $50,000
- City of Rhinelander, $44,000
The round of funding from the DNR’s Urban Forestry Catastrophic Storm Grant program became available after Gov. Tony Evers signed Executive Order #256 on April 1, declaring a State of Emergency following severe winter storms. A catastrophic storm is defined as damage to urban forests caused by snow, ice, hail, wind or tornado.
