GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin Humane Society says now is the purrfect time to adopt a feline friend or two.
Due to rising cat intakes, the humane society is launching two new initiatives to encourage adopter interest.
The first new initiative adds an incentive to adopting an adult cat. Now through the end of July, adult cat adopters will receive a coupon for 50% off any item in their Animal Antics store. These stores are located inside the Green Bay and Door County Campuses and have pet supplies and apparel available for purchase. All the proceeds from the store go back to helping local animals and the people who love them.
The second initiative is offering a fresh look at WHS’s “Name Your Own Adoption Fee.” Since 1999, WHS’s adult cat adopters have been able to name their own adoption fee, or waive the fee entirely, when taking home a new family member. But, new kennel cards illustrate the shocking value of adopting an adult cat from WHS.
It would cost about $752 to provide all the veterinary care, food, vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, and other benefits that WHS provides adult cat adopters. All cats at WHS are spayed/neutered, given initial vaccines, and microchipped before going home. They also go home with a free bag of starter food, a certificate for a free vet exam, and other adoption perks. However, at WHS, adult cat adopters can pay $0 to take their new family member home.
In addition to the two new initiatives, WHS is still running its Kitten Buddy Pricing.
If you adopt two kittens, the second kitten will have 50% off the adoption fee. Since cats are social animals, WHS always recommends adopting kittens in pairs especially when they come from the same litter.
