GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay is looking for community input on the future of Joannes Skatepark.
A community meeting will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 6 p.m. at 215 S. Baird Street.
The city partnered with Grindline Skateparks, a Seattle-based company specializing in concrete skatepark design and construction, to redesign Joannes Skatepark.
Grindline has designed and built over 400 skateparks worldwide, including some of the largest skateparks in America.
The meeting provides residents with the opportunity to learn about the redesign project, meet the Grindline designers, and contribute ideas to ensure the new design meets community need.
In addition to the community meeting, the city is conducting an online survey to gather broader community input. The survey will close on July 24, making the community meeting the final opportunity for direct input.
The redesign comes at a time when Green Bay’s action sports community remains active through organizations like the Green Bay Action Sports Organization (GBASO), a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides access to action sports and educational opportunities for youth. GBASO operates an indoor facility and has been instrumental in maintaining community engagement with skateboarding through programs, events, and advocacy.
The outdoor Joannes Skatepark complements GBASO’s indoor facility, providing year-round opportunities for the community’s skating enthusiasts during warmer months.
