Coast Guard rescues five from sinking sailboat on Lake Michigan near Kewaunee

KEWAUNEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued five people from a boat on Lake Michigan Wednesday night.

Crews were called to a 55’ sailboat taking on water near Kewaunee around 9 p.m. after their emergency beacon went off, Petty Officer Kylee Barnett said.

A boat and helicopter responded, and those on board were transferred to the boat. No injuries were reported, she said.
