APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Alic Riedel was convicted Thursday for striking a bicyclist with his vehicle and then leaving the scene. Sentencing will be on July 24.
Riedel, 29, pleaded no contest to one count of hit & run causing great bodily harm for the July 24 incident in the 400 block of N. Meade Street.
Riedel told police he thought someone threw a rock at his vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.
“Alic said all he knew was his windshield got hit. He confirmed that he didn’t stop to confirm what he hit,” the complaint states. “Alic did not remember seeing someone on a bike and said he did not see the reflective light of the bicycle.”
