MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Mishicot teacher who admitted to having sex with a student more than 50 times during a two-year period pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Ryan Schroeder, 37, faces 19 charges, including ten counts of possession of child pornography, repeated sexual assault of the same child, second-degree sexual assault, and sexual assault of a student by school staff member. Three charges were recently added by prosecutors.
Schroeder waived his preliminary hearing before the arraignment. A scheduling conference was set for June 17.
Judge Mark Rohrer denied the defense request to reduce the $150,00 cash bail.
According to the criminal complaint, the encounters started about Aug. 1, 2023, and continued into this year. The girl was 14 when the assaults began.
“Schroeder admitted he was having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 since 2023, continuously through 2025, and most recently at the end of March 2025. Schroeder admitted having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 over 50 separate times with VICTIM 1 from 2023-2025. Schroeder admitted to having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 inside of Mishicot High School over 10 times from 2023-2025,” the complaint states.
Some of the videos show the two engaged in sexual activities. There are also “selfie” photos, showing the girl in states of undress.
The complaint also identifies a second victim. Schroeder and that female exchanged nude photos, the complaint alleges.
