STEPHENSON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man is dead after running a stop sign, driving into a ditch and hitting a tree Friday night in Stephenson.
According to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office 53-year-old Edward J. Van Caster Jr. from Pound, Wisconsin, died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office first got the report of the crash just before 8 p.m.
Van Caster Jr. was driving on West 32nd Rd. and 49th Rd. when he went into the ditch and hit the tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt but all airbags did deploy.
The Sheriff’s Office said speed appears to be a factor but the crash remains under investigation.
