OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oconto home sustained severe damage in a fire Wednesday afternoon.
Oconto Fire & Rescue was dispatched to Glynn Road around 3:15 p.m. for a fully-involved structure fire with explosions.
Crews arrived to find a single-story, wood-frame residential structure with heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage and spreading into the house. A detached shed was also fully engulfed in flames. Officials say the fire spread into the attic and ran the length of the house.
Nearly 27 firefighters from numerous agencies worked to contain the flames and eventually cut an access hole into the attic space to extinguish the fire. Crews then remained on scene to continue to put out hot spots.
No one was injured. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
