TOWN OF PIERCE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man died Monday when his tractor rolled over in Kewaunee County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded around 11:45 a.m. after receiving a call about an individual trapped under a tractor that had rolled over. The incident occurred on private property in the town of Pierce.
48-year-old Shawn Gau sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A local wrecker service removed the tractor from the incident location and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was contacted due to fluids leaking from the tractor near a river.
According to a news release, “The initial investigation determined that the victim was attempting to free a second piece of equipment that had gotten stuck and in the process of that effort, the tractor he was operating became unstable, causing it to roll over.”
An investigation by the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department is ongoing.
