MANITOWOC RAPIDS (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 21-year-old Manitowoc County woman died after crashing into a tree.
Just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, crews were dispatched to the 6500 block of Homestead Road in the town of Manitowoc Rapids for a single-vehicle crash. The caller said the vehicle was on fire.
Officials determined a car was going east on Homestead Road when it left the roadway, entered the south ditch and struck a tree.
The vehicle caught fire which was extinguished by responding firefighters.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
