OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A state appeals court Wednesday upheld Erice Grady’s conviction for a 2021 murder.
Grady, 49, was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide for the April 27, 2021 death of Deshawn Davis. He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance at parole.
Grady appealed, arguing the trial court erred in not allowing to present certain evidence, and not allowing him to blame someone else for the murder.
In a seven-page decision Wednesday, the Court of Appeals rejected his arguments.
“Here, we are satisfied that the circuit court properly denied Grady’s other acts motion,” the decision states. “In the end, Grady did not present sufficient evidence to take his theory of (the alternate suspect’s) guilt “beyond mere speculation.” Accordingly, we conclude that the circuit court properly excluded it.”
Grady and others were at a home on Greenwood Court in Oshkosh when he shot Davis through the door, according to the criminal complaint.
Grady is currently housed at the Green Bay Correctional Institution, state records show.
