SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Sheboygan man was arrested on suspicion of animal abuse and mistreatment.
On Thursday, Sheboygan Police responded to a welfare check in the 900 block of N. 11th Street.
Upon arrival, officers found blood outside the home and searched the residence.
During the investigation, officers found evidence suggesting the man mistreated and abused his dog, leading to the dog’s death.
Shortly after, police located the man in downtown Sheboygan.
The man was armed with a knife and did not comply with officer’s demands to drop the weapon. Officers used less lethal munitions and electronic control devices to take the man into custody.
During the arrest, officers noticed multiple injuries unrelated to the arrest, and began life saving measures.
The man was taken to a local hospital before being medically transported to a Milwaukee-are hospital.
The incident remains under investigation.
