(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) The Marquette University men’s basketball team (15-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with an 85-83 overtime win at DePaul (9-8, 0-6 BIG EAST) on Tuesday night at Wintrust Arena.
Senior forward David Joplin finished with a career-high 30 points and senior guard Kam Jones added 18 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.
In his last three games at Wintrust Arena, Joplin has combined to shoot 25-of-41 (60.9 percent) from the floor overall and 21-of-32 (65.6 percent) from behind the 3-point line.
In a game that saw the Golden Eagles shoot just 42.6 percent from the floor, a back-and-forth second half came down to the closing minutes. MU trailed a majority of the final minutes, but a trey from Chase Ross gave MU a two-point advantage with eight seconds left. The Blue Demons forced overtime with a driving layup, but the Golden Eagles would lead by as many as 10 points before hanging on for the victory.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 11 points in the first half after knocking down 6-of-9 shots to start the game, but the Blue Demons responded with a 13-3 run and eventually took the lead in the closing minutes of the first stanza. DePaul shots 59.3 percent from the field at the intermission and led 40-39 at the break.

- Gold’s 14 points were his most since he scored 14 against Georgia
