PULASKI, WI (WTAQ) — There was an increase in safety protocols around Pulaski schools on Wednesday.
On Tuesday evening, four threatening messages were sent to Pulaski High School social media accounts; though no specific school was targeted.
“The message was directing people not to attend school, because there was going to be violence,” said Pulaski Community School District Director of Communications, Eric Schreiber. “They were threatening to ‘shoot up’ [the school].”
Village of Pulaski Police determined the threat was not credible, but a suspect was taken into custody in the Milwaukee area. That suspect is also believed to be connected to similar messages sent to Milwaukee schools.
“We always want students to feel comfortable coming to school and confident in their safety,” said Schreiber. “Students who make these threats, even if they’re joking or they think it’s funny, are subject to various serious consequences, both legal and within the school.”
As a precaution, three school resources were at the high school on Wednesday and also traveled to other schools within the district out of an abundance of caution.
Schreiber encouraged students to report any threats to the Speak Up, Speak Out tipline.
