(WTAQ-WLUK) — With an estimated 250-thousand visitors set to descend on Titletown for the NFL Draft, demand for hotel rooms has never been higher. It’s not just in the greater Green Bay area.
Asking prices for hotels in Appleton and Oshkosh are hundreds of dollars more than normal.
Booking.com shows openings for the week before and the week of the draft.
Here’s the breakdown.
In Appleton, the average cost for a room the week before the Draft is $116.
For the week of the Draft, the average is $357 a night — but jumps to $495 for the first night of the Draft.
Heading south to Oshkosh, it’s cheaper, but not by much. A room the week before the Draft will cost you, on average, $88 a night.
For the week of the Draft, the average is $172 a night — but jumps to $268 on the first night of the Draft.
The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau provided a statement regarding the stark contrast in prices which reads:
This is nothing new. It’s not something we haven’t seen before when rooms are in high demand for EAA or home Packer games. The Fox Cities is in a prime location, with great amenities and exceptional service which reflects the higher prices.
Fox Valley hotel managers say they’re dealing with reservations ranging from just one night to the entire week.
With an estimated 3,600 hotel rooms in the Fox Cities, they say it’s best to book early.
