TOWN OF MANITOWOC RAPIDS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities have released more details about a weekend crash that killed two people.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office says the crash was reported just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 43, north of Highway JJ.
Preliminary investigation results show Michael Johnson, 76, of Chilton, was going north in the southbound lanes when his SUV hit a car head-on. The driver of the car was identified as Jacob Ruiz, 43, of Sheboygan.
Both drivers died at the scene. Neither vehicle had passengers.
A third SUV headed south hit debris from the crash. No one in that vehicle was injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
