(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE — The No. 10/11 Marquette University men’s basketball team (8-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) remains undefeated as it pushed past Western Carolina University (2-4, 0-0 SOCON), 94-62 Saturday afternoon at Fiserv Forum.
Marquette opened the game with a 21-12 run through the first nine minutes. Senior guard Kam Jones led the run for Marquette with 10 points.
Keeping momentum, the Golden Eagles shot 52.9% over the Catamount’s 35.5%. Marquette headed into the locker room up at the half, 49-30.
Coming out of halftime, Marquette went on a 21-13 run to push the lead to 27 points.
The Golden Eagles keep the pressure on for their third game scoring 20+ over an opponent this season and move to 8-0 on the season.
Jones led for the Golden Eagles with 20 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Marquette had three people with 10-or-more points in the contest; junior forward Ben Gold notched 12 points and senior guard Stevie Mitchell had 10 points.
For Western Carolina, Senior forward Bernard Pelote led with 13 points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard CJ Hyland tacked on five assists.

- Marquette is 8-0 for the first time since 2011-12 (10-0) and entering play on Saturday was one of 19 remaining undefeated teams in the country
- This is the first meeting between the two teams at Fiserv Forum. The last time they played, Nov. 30, 2016, was held in the Bradley Center.
- Sophomore guard Zaide Lowery posted a career-best eight points, beating his previous high of seven.
- Jones tied a career-best 10 assists in the win
- Redshirt freshman Caedin Hamilton also scored a personal-best, with nine points.
- Kam Jones finished with 20 points and 10 assists for his second-career double-double
- Marquette finished with a season-high 37 points off the bench
- Junior guard Jake Ciardo scored his first collegiate points in the contest.
