CHILTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man was rescued from the roof during a house fire in Chilton on Thanksgiving.
Just before 6 p.m., crews were dispatched to 1221 Fox Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw flames coming from the home and a man at the second-floor window. Smoke and heat eventually forced the man to the roof where a ladder was used to get him down to safety.
The fire was controlled within 30 minutes, with winds pushing smoke throughout the house. The fire was contained to the first floor, however the family is displaced with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The Red Cross is assisting.
Some of the pets had smoke inhalation and one cat died in the fire.
The cause of the fire appears accidental with the investigation ongoing.
