(WIAC) – West De Pere’s Alexa Thomson has been named the WIAC/Kwik Trip women’s basketball player of the week.
Thomson is a senior guard/forward at UW-Stevens Point.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Dustin Derousseau, Junior (Tomah, Wis./Tomah), Guard of UW-La Crosse
Derousseau was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Great Lakes Invitational, averaging 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in a pair of victories. He finished with 20 points and five rebounds in a 99-75 victory over Marietta College (Ohio) on Nov. 22. Derousseau followed with his first career double-double, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds with two steals in a 76-59 win over Johns Hopkins University (Md.) on Nov. 23. The Blue Jays were receiving votes on the D3hoops.com Top 25 Preseason Poll.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Alexa Thomson, Senior (De Pere, Wis./West), Guard/Forward of UW-Stevens Point
Thomson averaged 24.0 points per game as the Pointers went 2-0 at the Melissa Johnson Classic in Richmond, Ind. She tied a career high with 27 points to lead all scorers and hit a game-winning three with 2.5 seconds left in a win over previously unbeaten Aurora University (Ill.). Thomson followed that up with 21 points and four rebounds in a win over host Earlham College (Ind.) on Nov. 24. For the weekend, she shot 16-for-30 from the field, including 6-of-11 from three-point range, and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line, while collecting 13 total rebounds.
