(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay women’s basketball team made it three wins in a row with a 70-57 victory over DePaul at the Kress Center Thursday evening.
Natalie McNeal paced the Phoenix (3-2) with 17 points. Maddy Schreiber filled the stat sheet, scoring 14 points while tying the team-high with five rebounds. She also recorded a team-leading six assists.
Jorie Allen led all players with 20 points for the Blue Demons (2-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay sprinted out of the gates to a 10-0 lead in the first 2:32 of the game, with four different Phoenix scoring each of GB’s first four buckets. Schreiber and Cassie Schiltz drilled consecutive triples, giving GB the early double-digit lead. DePaul crept back into the game, going on an 11-4 run highlighted by a three from Tay Johnson-Matthews and four points in the paint from Allen. Green Bay still held a 17-13 edge heading into the second frame, where each team traded shots. Jenna Guyer made a layup to extend GB’s lead to 25-16 with 6:21 left before halftime, but the Blue Demons stuck around, pulling back to within three after a Johnson-Matthews layup. She made another jumper before the buzzer, but Green Bay went into the locker room up 32-28.

DePaul had some early momentum out of the break, tying the game at 32 after an Allen jumper. The Phoenix had an answer, responding with a 15-4 run that culminated with an emphatic and-one by Schreiber, putting GB up 47-36 with 5:19 left in the third. The Green and White led by as much as 18 in the stanza, and went into the final quarter up by a dozen. Green Bay shot 57 percent in the third quarter, while DePaul went cold, shooting 6-of-16 overall but 0-for-5 from beyond the arc. Green Bay controlled the fourth quarter, leading by no less than 13 in the entire frame. McNeal scored five points in the final 10 minutes as the Phoenix went on to win 70-57.

- Bailey Butler played in her 100thcareer game and recorded her 400th career assist midway through the first quarter.
