TOWN OF EGG HARBOR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One man is dead and another hospitalized following a crash Wednesday in Door County.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., the Door County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 42 in the town of Egg Harbor, just south of the intersection with Sunny Point Road.
Officials say a vehicle traveling southbound on STH 42 crossed the centerline and struck a vehicle traveling northbound.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 64-year-old Sturgeon Bay man, was transported to Door County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A 30-year-old Sturgeon Bay man was driving the northbound vehicle. He was airlifted to a Green Bay hospital for medical care.
There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
STH 42 was closed to traffic for several hours to allow for crash reconstruction and investigation. It reopened at 2:15 p.m. Names of the drivers have not yet been released. The crash is still under investigation.
