APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As winter weather approaches, many homeless shelters experience increased demand.
Pillars adult shelter in Appleton guides people from homelessness to coming home. They provide shelter, support and solutions to address housing needs in the community.
The adult shelter strives off volunteers.
“We provide shelter to 55 adults per day. We do our best to keep our beds full, and we’re often working off a wait list,” said Sarah Dearing, Crisis Housing Advocate with Pillars. “To be able to provide stable housing and stable meals to our clients so they can function at their best is really important to us.”
Pillars offers many volunteer positions that are a variety of commitment: dinner provider, dinner server, breakfast host, front desk assistant, shelter assistant, driver and more.
Fill out an application, complete a few training shifts and then – welcome to the team. Contact volunteer manager Tessa Evers with any questions.
