(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s basketball team dominated Illinois Springfield on Monday, 92-37, in front of 3,750 fans at the Al McGuire Center on Milwaukee Public Schools Kids Day.
The Golden Eagles (1-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) were led by Skylar Forbes, who had a career-high 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting and eight rebounds.
Lee Volker scored in double-digits for the second straight game, adding 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jaidynn Mason, in her first career start at MU, had 10 points, three rebounds and two steals on 5-of-5 shooting.
Marquette ended the game on a 23-0 run and dominated the glass, outrebounding ISU 58-21.
Illinois Springfield (0-3, 0-0 GLVC) was led by Emari Dobby, who had 12 points.
NOTABLES:
- Cara Consuegra earned her first career win as head coach at Marquette.
- Abbey Cracknell had career-highs in points (6), made 3-pointers (2), and steals (3).
- Ayuen Akot made her Marquette debut and made her first career shot.
- Jada Bediako had career-highs in points (6) and rebounds (8).
- Aryelle Stevens had career-highs in points (9) and rebounds (6).
