OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The new managers of the Oshkosh Arena are in full preparation for the Wisconsin Herd’s home opener Friday night.
Since VenuWorks took over in August, Executive Director Andy Linton said some big changes have been made — including redecorating the 1212 Bar and new “grab-and-go” style snack kiosks.
“For the Herd games, you’re going to have brand new speakers, the digital parking experience. You’re going to have awesome, high quality food service,” he said. “We’re just really excited about the experience our fans are going to have. Shorter lines, more time to watch the action,” said Wisconsin Herd Team President Steve Brandes.

Linton said that they are working hard to book a variety of performers and content for the arena, including the UW-Oshkosh Basketball Tournament in December.
The Oshkosh Arena has been facing serious financial troubles since it was put up for sale in March.
Bayland Buildings, who constructed the arena, filed suit against the current owner, Fox Valley Pro Basketball, alleging they owed more than $12 million. Bayland Buildings then paid more than $644,000 in back taxes on the arena in order to receive a tax increment financing incentive and a liquor license.
In August, the courts approved VenuWorks, out of Iowa, to take over management of the arena.
