OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Three people in an alleged national retail theft group accused of stealing more than $3,000 worth of merchandise from the Nike store in Oshkosh were arrested in Pleasant Prairie.
On Oct. 26, Pleasant Prairie police received information about a group that stole merchandise from a Nike department store in Oshkosh and it was believed the group would come to the Nike store at the Premium Outlet Mall next.
When authorities arrived at the shopping center, they saw a vehicle matching the suspects’ description.
Police quickly arrested the individuals involved and recovered over $3,000 in stolen merchandise.
Later officers learned that these individuals were connected to a larger Peruvian national group responsible for retail thefts totaling more than $54,000 across multiple states, including New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maine, Virginia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, Utah, Nevada, and Wisconsin.
The three suspects, identified as Juan Yancunta-Quiroz, Jose Arteaga-Sanchez and Darwin Velasquez, are facing charges in Kenosha County.
Formal charges have not been filed in Winnebago County.
