(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) NEW YORK – Marquette University women’s volleyball outside hitter Natalie Ring was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the first time her career following sweeps of Villanova and St. John’s, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Ring tied with Aubrey Hamilton for the team-lead with 22 kills in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles, who have won 11-straight matches and are one victory from securing a BIG EAST tournament berth. Ring had just one hitting error over six sets and posted a mark of .404 (22-1-52) against the Wildcats and Red Storm. She landed 11 kills in each match to average 3.67 kills per frame and her kill total Friday against VU was a match high.
Ring has emerged as a force in front row for the Golden Eagles in BIG EAST play, averaging 2.77 kills per set on .295 hitting. The native of Madison, Wisconsin has reached double digit kills in eight of MU’s last 11 matches and is hitting .332 with 3.34 kills per set in Marquette’s current 11-match winning streak.
MU hits the road for a midweek match at Butler on Wednesday, Nov. 6 before a big home contest against No. 6 Creighton at 2 p.m. (FS1) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Al.
