(OHIO STATE COMMUNICATIONS) – COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Ohio State combination of Kailyn Dudukovich and Amanda Schlueter has been the best in the league this season and they proved it again on Friday evening. The combo connected for a goal with just 11 minutes remaining as the No. 10 Buckeyes beat Wisconsin 1-0 to advance in the Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis.
The win is the 12th of the season for the Buckeyes who advance to take on No. 1 seed USC on Monday at 1 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals.
Dudukovich notched her 17th goal of the season and for Schlueter, she recorded her 11th assist. That is just one assist shy of the program’s single-season record.
The Buckeyes had eight shots on goal on the night, compared to just one for Wisconsin (9-5-4). Junior goalkeeper Molly Pritchard had to make just the one save in recording her fourth shutout of the season.
How it Happened
The first 79 minutes of the match were played scoreless as both teams traded possessions. The Buckeyes had the better run of play as they had more dangerous opportunities.
Finally, with 11 minutes to play, the Buckeyes broke through. Freshman Jacinda Bonham took possession of the ball and played it forward to Schlueter. She then dribbled to the end line and crossed into the middle of the box where Dudukovich was unmarked and put the ball in the back of the net.
Ohio State then took the air out of the ball down the stretch to secure the win.
