OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Former president Bill Clinton made a stop in Oshkosh Thursday on behalf of the Harris-Walz campaign.
The 42nd president spoke to volunteers and encouraged early voting inside the Winnebago County Democratic Party office.
Clinton touched on a number of subjects during his speech, including inflation.
“Her economic plan is way better, her educaiton plan is way better; they would probably try to eliminate the department of education,” said Clinton. “Her healthcare plan is light years better.”
He also took jabs at the republican nominee and former president Donald Trump for not being willing to compromise on issues.
“You hire people to tell you that you have to consider this, that, and the other thing,” said Clinton. “When Trump was president, we had military leaders and others who tried to say ‘this is a terrible idea.’ He has made it clear that none of those people would be back.”
After the Oshkosh event, Clinton went to Milwaukee for a faith event.
WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming released the following statement on Clinton’s visit:
“In their latest effort to convince voters that decency and character are on the ballot this November, Wisconsin Democrats are turning to Bill Clinton to make their case. Good luck with that.”
Clinton’s Wisconsin visit comes after both presidential candidates held rallies in Wisconsin.
Former president Donald Trump held a rally at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. Around the same time, vice president Kamala Harris held a rally on the UW-Madison campus.
On Friday, both presidential candidates will return to swing state Wisconsin and in the same city.
Trump and Harris will host dueling rallies in Milwaukee, with Trump’s at Fiserv Forum.
Before Harris’ rally at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center in Milwaukee Friday, she will host an event in Outagamie County. Her campaign did not provide an exact location, but said it would take place in the “Appleton area” and listed the timeframe as 3-7 p.m.
