OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sybastian Crossman pleaded not guilty Thursday for a fatal stabbing outside an Oshkosh restaurant.
Crossman, 23, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide for the Aug. 10 incident. No trial date was set. A possible plea hearing was scheduled for Jan. 6, court records show.
According to the complaint, police were called to the lot outside of a pizza restaurant on High Avenue in Oshkosh about 2:30 a.m. due to a report of a stabbing. The victim suffered a single puncture wound to his abdomen.
Crossman and his friend got into an argument with four others – including the eventual stabbing victim – inside the restaurant. Security cameras show Crossman and his friend “appearing to the be the aggressors in an interaction with four males,” the complaint states.
The confrontation then moved outside, which is where the stabbing took place.
Crossman told police they “ran into people that haven’t liked him for a long time, based on something Crossman’s buddy had done. Crossman said that he thought it had all been clear until a couple weeks prior, he was with Mack, and they ran into some of the same people from the 8/10/24 incident. Crossman said that during that contact a couple weeks prior, the group had robbed them,” the complaint states.
Crossman said he believed the other would have gun on them or in the vehicles. After initially denying he had a knife, “About an hour and 35 minutes into the interview, Crossman acknowledged having a knife. Crossman said, “I pulled it but I didn’t stab him. He ran into it,” according to the complaint.
A cousin of one of the victims told police that during the incident a few weeks prior, Crossman was made to get on his knees and apologize for using a racial slur, and he believes that’s what Crossman was upset during this incident.
