APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton high school seniors are looking to inspire the next generation of students interested in the health care field.
Appleton North High School seniors Olivia Feng and Riya Butala are part of The Appleton Youth Education Initiative (AYEI), a nonprofit student-led organization that brings free education opportunities to Appleton students.
For the first time this year, the group is organizing and hosting “MediBridge” a medical career fair aimed to connect local high school students with professionals in the medical and health fields.
The event will provide a unique opportunity for students to engage directly with industry experts, explore various career paths and gain insight into the medical profession.
“So Riya and I have always been passionate about health care, starting from freshmen year we always wanted like health opportunities and ways to explore the health field so this is something that we kind of always wanted and as a part of AYEI this year, we kind of wanted to make this a reality for many students that will come after us,” Feng said.
The fair will feature 20 booths staffed by healthcare professionals representing a variety of specialties and organizations with healthcare experts and companies. ThedaCare and Children’s Wisconsin are among those participating.
Feng says more than 220 students have signed up so far.
If you are an Appleton Area School District high school student, you can register here.
MediBridge is set for Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon inside the gym of Appleton North High School.
