FRIENDSHIP, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who was trying to disassemble fireworks with a power tool was flown to the hospital after the firework exploded in his hand.
Just before 5:30 p.m. Monday, emergency crews were called to N9588 White Pine Rd, in the Township of Friendship for a report of a man who had a significant hand injury due to fireworks.
When first responders arrived on scene, they found a41-year-old man with an injured left hand and applied a tourniquet to his left arm to stop the bleeding to the injured hand.
Officials say the man was working on disassembling fireworks with a power tool, when a spark ignited the powder causing the firework in his hand to explode, causing severe damage to his left hand. He also received injuries to his chest and face from the explosion.
