(LEARFIELD) – Penn State coach James Franklin notes that the Badgers are playing their best football during a three-game winning streak.
They’ve outscored opponents 117-16.
Despite how good coach Luke Fickell’s team has looked, Wisconsin opens as a six-and-a-half-point underdog for Saturday’s Big Ten Conference game at Camp Randall Stadium.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a bye week.
Franklin says he has a lot of respect for Fickell and – in Monday’s press conference – mentioned players like Tawee Walker, Hunter Wohler, and Ricardo Hallman as UW standouts who will make it a challenging game.
Need to know: Wisconsin has won 2 of its last 4 meetings with top-10 teams at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers are in search of their first win over a top-5 team since 2010 (No. 1 Ohio State).
Dating back to 2010, the Badgers have welcomed top-10 teams to Camp Randall on 8 occasions. Wisconsin is 4-4 in those matchups. Only one of UW’s 4 losses has been by more than one score.
With Penn State at No. 3, the Nittany Lions hold the highest ranking for either side at any point in the all-time matchup. Penn State was No. 3 and took on an
unranked Badger side at Camp Randall in 1996. PSU won 23-20.
