GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A contractor who took for money for a bathroom remodel but never did the work was sentenced to a year in prison Monday.
Tony Cline, 57, pleaded no contest to one of theft by false representation for the June 2022 deal. He was also placed on extended supervision for two years, and ordered to pay $2,365.50 in restitution to two people, court records show.
Officials say Cline took out an ad in a newspaper for handyman services, under the name “A-Z Handyman Services” with phone number (701) 729-7493. A couple in Ashwaubenon had hired Cline to do a bathroom remodel. The couple gave cline $2,200 up front and Cline disappeared without completing any work.
Investigators say Cline has a criminal history of committing these types of frauds in five states.
Cline’s address is listed as the South Dakota State Penitentiary, according to court records. He faces grand theft charges there with a Dec. 5 court date, court records show.
