CHILTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Chilton council president is stepping into the role of mayor until a new one is elected in 2026.
This comes after long-time Mayor Thomas Reinl resigned from the position earlier this month.
The city wrote on its Facebook page:
Tom’s commitment to improving our community has not gone unnoticed, as he was involved in several projects throughout his tenure from road construction projects, updating city facilities, building a new Fire Department, renovating City Hall, and always having a sound financial plan for all of these projects. We appreciate the time and effort he put into making the city a success and his presence over the years have made a significant impact. We thank you for your time, dedication and leadership to this great community over the years.
Current Council President Rick Jaeckels will assume the role of “Acting Mayor” in the mayor’s absence and will preside over all meetings until April 21, 2026.
