OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oshkosh community is banding together to raise money to ensure students stay warm this winter.
The Oshkosh Area School District Education Foundation and Community Clothes Closet are joining forces to provide essential winter gear to Oshkosh public school students in need.
“Every child deserves to be warm and comfortable during the winter months,” says Theresa Duren, Director of the OASD Education Foundation. “By ensuring students have proper winter gear, we’re not just keeping them warm—we’re promoting their health and ability to focus on learning, regardless of the weather.”
Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the J.J. Keller Foundation to the Community Clothes Closet, the initiative needs to raise an additional $5,000 to expand its impact.
Community members can make a donation here.
The campaign runs until Oct. 31.
According to the district, 52% of its elementary students, about 2,000 children, come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
