KEWAUNEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Fall spawning run and collection is officially underway at a local fishery.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Besadny Anadromous Fisheries Facility (BAFF) is an egg collecting station.
In the spring and fall, Great Lakes salmon and trout begin their spawning runs.
The facility highlights Chinook salmon from late September to mid October.
Development at the facility began in 1989, and the first fish and eggs were collected in the fall of 1990.
BAFF also is involved with the rehabilitation of the lake sturgeon in the Great Lakes.
The facility is located at N3884 Ransom Moore Lane, Kewaunee.
