Agriculture takes center stage in this year’s Wisconsin Science Festival, and as a result, Farm Wisconsin will feature special activities—including farm bus tours. A special, Saturday-only event will offer Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center guests the opportunity to tour Grotegut Dairy Farm in person in a family field trip-style event. The special farm bus tour and other science activities are included with regular admission Saturday, October 19 from 9 AM – 1 PM.
“We are thrilled to participate in this statewide event and offer guests unique activities,” shares Abigail Winkel, brand manager. “Thanks to our partnership with the Wisconsin Science Festival, visitors on Saturday will have the same opportunity our school field trips have, to go behind the scenes – and quite literally into the barn – of a local, family-owned dairy farm.”
Bus tours to the dairy farm will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis at 10 AM, 11 AM, and 12 PM. Each tour will be led by a Farm Wisconsin tour guide, offering guests the opportunity to ask questions and engage throughout the tour.
In addition to the bus tours, numerous interactive activities will showcase the diversity of Wisconsin agriculture. Science Festival attendees will discover how science intertwines with all aspects of food, fuel, and fiber production. Highlights include an all-new corn maze on site and cranberry exploration courtesy of the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association.
Wisconsin Science Festival
The Wisconsin Science Festival is an annual celebration designed to encourage those of all ages to explore the world of science. Held this year from October 14 – 20, 2024, the weeklong event features pop-up locations throughout Wisconsin. Activities include hands-on science experiments, live Q&A sessions and interviews with scientists, demonstrations, performances, behind-the-scenes tours, and more. This year’s theme, agriculture, highlights one of Wisconsin’s most important industries.

Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center
The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center is an interactive agricultural education center located along I-43 in northeastern Wisconsin. Farm Wisconsin connects visitors’ curiosity to the wonder of Wisconsin agriculture and provides guests with a better understanding of their food sources and their importance.
Regular Farm Wisconsin admission rates are $18 for adults, $14 for seniors 62 and older, and $10 for youth 3-18. Children 2 and younger are admitted free of charge. More information can be found at farmwisconsin.org.
