OMRO, WI (WTAQ) — Voters in Omro will make some decisions for their school district in the November election.
Voters will decide either ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for an operational referendum of $1.9 million each year for five years, and for a capital referendum of $26.5 million.
Funding from the operational referendum would go toward maintenance expenses, while funding from the capital referendum would go toward projects including safety and security updates across the district, construction of an outdoor restroom and concessions at the middle/high school, ADA upgrades in district bathrooms, and the biggest project; an addition onto Omro Elementary School.
“This would add a full-day 4k classroom and a multi-purpose space addition,” said Superintendent Jay Jones.
Currently, the 4k program is only a half-day.
If both referendums pass, property taxes would increase by $133 annually for every $100,000 of assessed property value.
